a glass mirror...to see your soul (2014)

fixed electroacoustic sounds

Program Note

This piece was drafted during the fall of 2013, using a limited number of sound sources associated with the art of glassblowing. Sonic material was derived from field recordings taken at Gathered Art Gallery and Studios (Toledo, OH, USA), where the proprietors gathered and manipulated molten glass in their studio Hot Shop. The final composition—completed in 2014—is a meditation on a quote by the Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw: "You use a glass mirror to see your face; you use works of art to see your soul."
